How do I rent out my parking spot?
Anyone who has a long-term parking spot can make it available for others in their building to use through Parkade. How you make it available depends on whether you have your spot by reserving it through Parkade, or if your building assigned it to you outside of Parkade.
Reserved long-term through Parkade
If you reserved a long-term parking spot through Parkade, sharing the spot is super easy!
Tap on the "Host" tab at the bottom of the Parkade app, then tap Spots to see all the spots you've rented that you can host reservations for.
Tap on the spot to change the price (more info on that here) or the description others will see when reserving your spot. The higher your price, the more you'll make per reservation, however, your spot may not be reserved frequently. Lower prices will make less per rental, but your spot may get rented more frequently, perhaps netting you more overall.
Once you’re ready to make the spot available for others to reserve, tap on the "Calendar" tab. There, you'll see two different calendar views: "Day by day," which shows 7 days, and "Detailed," which shows all future dates. Tap on either to make dates available or unavailable. More information on changing availability can be found here.
Assigned outside of Parkade
If you live in a building that doesn't use Parkade to assign long-term parking spots, you can still add your spot to your Parkade account and share it. Since we don’t know which spot is yours, you'll need to add it to Parkade manually. You should be asked for your spot number when you sign up after first downloading the Parkade app and joining your building's lot.
If you didn’t add it then, or if you want to add a spot later, just tap the Host tab and then tap Spots. You'll see an “Add a spot” option, which you can use to add your spot number, add a spot headline (a few words advertising the spot, like "Close to elevator"), set the price, mark any special features (such as having an EV charger) and decide when it should be available for others to reserve.
