Why did I have to pay to switch spots?

Edited

Each reservation on Parkade is a separate transaction. There are no "account balances" that are maintained within our system, and as such we are not able to "apply a payment" made for one parking spot towards another.

What does this mean?

If you cancel, end, or change a parking spot, you will be refunded for that specific reservation (provided it was canceled in line with our refund policies). If/when you make a new reservation, you will pay separately for it.

Example:

  1. You make a reservation for spot 100 for $50

  2. You realize when you arrive that spot 100 is too small for your vehicle

  3. You cancel spot 100

    1. This will trigger a refund in our system

  4. You instead reserve spot 101 for $50

    1. This is a separate transaction

In this scenario, you were charged two different times, for two different spaces. But, you will receive a refund for one of them.

When will I receive a refund?

We cover this a bit more in our refund timing article, but refunds typically take between 3-10 business days to reflect on your statement. The time can vary based on the payment method you used — since card payments are "instant" it means when you receive a refund on a credit/debit card, the refund will not take as long. On the other hand, if you pay via ACH, you will need to wait for both (1) the initial payment to settle (~4 business days) and (2) the refund to settle (~4 business days) until you see the refund reflected.
