Why did I have to pay to switch spots?

Edited

Each reservation made through Parkade is a separate transaction. There are no account balances maintained in our system, and we cannot apply a payment made for one parking spot towards another.

What does this mean?

When you make a reservation, you’ll be charged for it. If you cancel that reservation, you may be refunded for unused time from that reservation. If you then make a new reservation, you will be charged separately for it.

For example:

  1. You make a reservation for spot 100 for $50. You’re charged $50.

  2. You realize when you arrive that spot 100 is too small for your vehicle.

  3. You cancel your reservation for spot 100.

    • This will trigger a refund in our system.

  4. You then reserve spot 101 for $50.

    • You’ll be charged a separate transaction for $50.

In this scenario, you were charged two different times, for two different spaces. But, you will receive a refund for one of them.

When will I receive a refund?

Refunds typically take 3-10 business days to reflect on your statement. The time can vary based on the payment method you used. Refunds for card payments typically don’t take long. On the other hand, if you pay with a bank account, you need to first wait for the initial payment to settle (around 3-5 business days) and then wait for the refund to settle (also about 3-5 business days).
